Cristo del Otero

A 21-metre sculpture by Victorio Macho on a hill with the best views of the city.

Area: Palencia capital
View on map ↗

On the Otero hill, on the edge of the city, stands the Cristo del Otero, a 21-metre sculpture by Victorio Macho, inaugurated in 1931. It is one of Palencia’s great symbols and one of the tallest statues of Christ in Spain.

It is worth the climb for the views: from here you look over the whole city and the Palencia plains. The best time is sunset.

You can drive up or walk from the town centre. On special dates there are events on the hill, so check the local agenda.
